Iranian Qari Wins Al-Kawthar TV’s Int'l Quran Competition

IQNA – The 17th edition of Al-Kawthar TV Channel’s 17th international Quran competition came to a close, with Iranian qari Mostafa Hemmat Qassemi winning the top prize.

Hemmat Qassemi scored 87.25 points to come first in the contest. The runner-up was Mostafa Heidari from Afghanistan with 86.5 points, while Muhammad Ridha al-Haj Awman from Indonesia won the third rank with 86.25 points. 

The fourth and fifth ranks went to Abdul Hussain Suwaidan from Germany and Hassan Shakir Hamoud al-Saedi from Iraq, respectively.

The top five participants had competed in the grand finale, held on the blessed night of Eid al-Fitr.

The phone-in Quran competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) is held in the holy month of Ramadan every year.

It is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.

The competition was aimed to serve as a beacon of unity, spirituality, and reverence for the Holy Quran.
