TEHRAN (IQNA) – Islamic society means a society that is governed according to Islamic laws and seeks the rule of people, especially believers in society. Believers are also able to influence society and accompany rulers.

According to sociologists, the formation of five institutions is necessary in order for the survival of humans and give discipline to their lives. One of these bodies is family. Another one is the economy which provides comfort in life. The third institution is the one related to health. The fourth institution is related to education and the last one is the government, which ensures the security of society as well as that of the previous four institutions.

These institutions may be religious or non-religious in terms of their relationship with religion. If these institutions are in harmony with religious values and divine laws, they will become religious, and if they are not, they will be non-religious. By looking at the Quran, we can see that important issues have been stated for all these institutions, and there have been instructions in this regard in the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

From Islam’s point of view, attention is not just focused on the government but also on people; i.e. we have Muslim people and nations who accompany the government and leadership and move toward establishing an Islamic government.

When the nation is formed, they give allegiance to the leader before extending help to establish a government that seeks to implement Islamic laws and ensure the security of the society. That is why we say that the most important task of the Islamic government under the leadership of the Islamic leader is to build community. This will be realized through the growth of individuals which in part, happens through ethics, education, and religion. So, Islamic governance does not rely only on the ruler or rulers, but alongside them, the believers become influential in the society. Examples of this influence are mentioned in the Quran, such as Talut who is a believer with great physical strength and scientific knowledge, or prophet Yusuf, who is trustworthy and knowledgeable. These are examples of people with faith and merit who, along with the rulers, have an impact on society.

In Islamic society, in addition to governance, people, and government, we also have Wilayat. All of these act like a network meaning that they establish links between the believers so that they focus on the same goal and also know their enemy and unite in the face of it. The harmony of the believers in the field of friendship with friends and enmity with enemies happens in connection with the governorship and Wilayat.
