TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iraqi Shia Coordinating Committee condemned Friday’s rocket attack on Baghdad airport.

The committee in a statement described it as an act of terrorism aimed at fomenting sedition in the country, Al-Sumaria News reported.

It is aimed at setting the ground for hatching plots against the Iraqi nation, the statement said, calling on all groups to remain united against attempts to disrupt security and stability in Iraq.

At least three rockets landed in the Baghdad International Airport compound on Friday, damaging one disused civilian airplane.

Iraq’s state news agency reported that there was no disruption to travel.

Abu Ali Askari, head of Kataib Hezbollah resistance group, also slammed the attack, saying those who committed fraud in Iraq’s parliamentary election launched it to further complicate the situation.

He called on security forces and the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) to identify the mercenaries who launched the attack on the airport.
