TEHRAN (IQNA) – A cultural official in the South Khorasan Province says plans are underway to offer Quranic studies to 14,000 people per year.

Nearly 2,000 Quranic courses are being held annually in different centers across the province, director general of Islamic propagation organization in South Khorasan Province Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Rezaei told IRNA on Monday.

Plans are underway to provide Quran teaching for 14,000 individuals per year, he stressed.

Most of the educational activities are being held virtually, he said, adding that few centers have also started in-person courses while sticking to the required health protocols.

Some 5,000 certificates for Quran learners are being issued every year, Rezaei said, noting that there are 87 certified Quranic centers active in the province.

He also said that courses on training teachers for Tajweed, memorization, and recitation are being staged regularly in the province.

Located in the east of Iran, South Khorasan Province has 11 counties, hosting 768,000 people.
