Ms Schult told the website of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine that she did the translation with the aim of promoting the message of the Quran and spreading Islamic teachings.
She noted that 90,000 copies of the rendering have been published so far.
The German Muslim said it took her two years (1999-2001) to translate the entire Quran into German.
She did a lot of research, read many books in German, Arabic, and Persian and benefited from the expertise of a number of Arab and German speaking experts to translate the Holy Book.
Ms Schult said she had worked at a library and taught Christian teachings to children before embracing Islam back in the 1970s.
She reverted to Islam after marrying a Shia Muslim man from Yemen in 1973.
