5th Int’l Conference on Imam Hussein (AS) Opens in Iraq

BAGHDAD (IQNA) – The fifth edition of Imam Hussein International Conference was inaugurated on Saturday in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala.

"The Pioneering Role of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) in the Interpretation of the Holy Quran" is the theme of the conference which features 80 research papers from five different countries.

Dar-ol-Quran of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine organized the conference in collaboration with several universities in Iraq and Iran. The conference aims to highlight the contributions of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) to the understanding and explanation of the Quranic verses.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held at the Warith Al-Anbiyaa University in Karbala.

Sheikh Khairuddin al-Hadi, head of the Astan's Dar-ol-Quran Center, was among the speakers of the opening ceremony.

The conference then proceeded with the presentation of the research papers in different sessions.

The conference attracted researchers from various universities and countries, such as Sudan, Lebanon, Iran, Nigeria, England and Iraq.

The organizing committee accepted 42 papers out of the 80 submissions, said Karrar al-Shammari, public relations officer of the Astan's Dar-ol-Quran center.
