TEHRAN (IQNA) - A festival titled "Imam Hussein (AS) Message" was held in Iraq with the participation of religious figures from 30 countries.

The event was organized by centers affiliated with the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) Holy Shrine.

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Amili, an official with the Astan, said that the festival started work some five years ago but it was not held in the past two years due to restrictions over the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that "the festival, which was held in coordination with the African Activities Division, targets visitors from outside Iraq, especially students of religious sciences, and scientific personalities who come to visit Imam Hussein (AS) from African countries," noting that the festival witnessed the participation of personalities from 30 countries, including India, Pakistan, and some Asian states.

For his part, Sheikh Ibrahim Bellah, one of the participants in the conference from the State of Sierra Leone, thanked and appreciated the representative of the supreme religious authority, the legitimate guardian of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, and the organizers of the festival for inviting them to visit holy shrines in Karbala.

In addition, Imam Hussein (AS) shrine hosted a delegation that included religious figures and scholars from Sierra Leone, which recently witnessed the conversion of many of its residents to Shia Islam.
