Iraqis' Special Muharram Mourning Procession in Qom
QOM (IQNA) – Shia Muslims of Iraq's Najaf origin who live in Qom, hold a special ceremony called "Mashgh-e Shamshir" (literary meaning training of sword) every year during the mourning month of Muharram to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.
A large crowd of people attend the event and move with their swords towards the shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA).
