Iranian Memorizer Wins Croatia Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Quran memorize Sina Tabbakhi has won first place at the 27th edition of Croatia’s international Quran competition in Zagreb.

Tabbakhi had participated in the category of entire Quran memorization and claimed the title after giving full answers to four questions of the panel of judges about An-Nisa, At-Tawbah, As-Sajdah, and Al-Waqi'a surahs.

Tabbakhi was the sole representative of Iran in the Quranic event which was first major international Quran contest that is organized in person since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Quran memorizers from 18 countries, including the host nation, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Iran, Somalia, Serbia, France, Norway, Malaysia, Qatar, Jordan, the US, Spain, Kuwait and Oman, took part in the international Quranic event. They competed in two categories, namely memorization of the entire Quran and memorization of half of the Quran.

The competition has been organized by Croatia’s Muslim Affairs Organization in cooperation with Qatar’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry, the Islamic Society of Zagreb and the secretariat of the European Competitions on Memorization and Recitation of the Quran.

The annual contest was not held last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the 26th edition, organized in 2019, Iran’s representatives came first and second in the recitation and memorization categories respectively.
