TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was recently held in Libya for kids under the age of 10.

According to libyaschannel.com website, a total of 220 boys and girls took part in the competition in the city of Al Bayda, northeast of the country.

They competed on memorization and Tajweed recitation of the Quran.

The city’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs department organized the contest for ten days.

Winners will be announced in a few days.

Efforts to develop Quranic activities in Libya continue despite the violence that has plagued many parts of the North African country since a NATO military intervention led to the overthrow of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
