TEHRAN (IQNA) – Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah slammed the Zionist regime’s latest move to knock down scores of Palestinian homes in a village on the outskirts of Quds (Jerusalem), describing it as a war crime.

This war crime has been committed with the aim of forcing Palestinians living in Quds to leave their land and then developing Zionist settlements, Hezbollah said in a statement.

It called on international and humanitarian organizations to stand with the oppressed people of Palestine.

Hezbollah also urged Muslim and Arab countries to fulfil their responsibility regarding the issue of Palestine.

Hezbollah Calls Israeli Demolition of Palestinian Homes ‘War Crime’

Hundreds of Israeli troops with bulldozers on Monday tore down homes in the Palestinian village of Sur Baher near Quds despite local protests and international criticism.

Residents of the village’s Wadi al-Hummus neighborhood told local media that 16 residential buildings with about 100 apartments were being demolished.

“Preparations started past midnight as hundreds of armed Israeli occupying soldiers/ bulldozers stormed the town. Families threatened with demolitions were woken up/ moved out of their homes,” said a tweet by the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO).

The Israeli military considers the homes, which are close to an Israeli separation wall that crisscrosses the occupied West Bank, a “security” risk.

The Zionist regime’s Supreme Court ruled in favor of the military last month, ending a seven-year legal battle, and set Monday as the deadline to knock down the homes. Palestinians say the demolitions set a precedent for other towns along the route of the barrier, which runs for hundreds of kilometers around and through the occupied West Bank.
