Teenage Turkish Boy with Speech Disorder Memorizes Entire Quran
According to turkeyalaan.net, Zakariya Vaziru, 18, memorized the Holy Book in just three months.
In a recent ceremony at the Dar-al-Ifta (house of Ifta or religious edicts) in the city of Kayseri, the boy was honored for his achievement.
The Dar-ol-Ifta also praised Zakariya’s family for supporting him in his efforts to learn the Quran by heart.
Shaheen Guan, the city’s Mufti, said at the ceremony that the high school boy, who made such an accomplishment despite his impairment, could be a good role model for the youth and teenagers in society.
Speech disorder is type of communication disorder where normal speech is disrupted. This can mean stuttering, lisps, etc.
Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) and Dar-al-Iftas have in recent years rammed up efforts to promote learning and memorizing the Quran in the country.
